Half black, half navy. Only I can tell. A tailored blazer split down the middle, over a navy satin top with a panel that trails down one leg. Wide black leather trousers. Somebody will say they match. I will reply in three days. Wear it straight to dinner.
A blazer split down the middle, half black, half navy, over a navy satin top with a trailing panel and wide black leather trousers.
A single-breasted blazer cut in two colours that most people cannot tell apart indoors: the right half black, the left half navy, joined at the centre front. The shoulders are padded and square, the waist is opened with a curved cut-out on each side, and the pocket flaps are layered so the hips get their own architecture. The sleeves are pushed up and the navy lining shows at the cuff.
Under it, a navy satin top with a strap crossing one shoulder and a hem that runs on the diagonal, then keeps going as a long panel down the left leg. The trousers are black leather, wide, with a seam at the knee. It is office tailoring for a day that ends at a dinner table, in the months when a jacket is all the coat anyone needs.
Black and navy together. This is as close as I get to a colour risk.
