Silver satin and cobalt organza one-shoulder gown
A silver satin one-shoulder gown with a pleated bodice, wrapped in cobalt organza that falls into a ruffled skirt, in a derelict iron hall.
A floor-length gown built from two fabrics that do not agree. The body is silver satin: a one-shoulder bodice pleated across the chest, a draped band at the waist and a straight column skirt. Over it, deep cobalt organza is wrapped from the left shoulder, pleated down the side of the bodice, pulled through a cut-out at the waist and released into a full skirt of layered ruffles that opens at the front to show the satin underneath.
This is a gown for one night and one door. An event, a gala, a long walk down a corridor that deserves it. Spring or autumn, because organza is not a winter idea. A thin metallic sandal, no wrap, no bag, and no jewellery beyond the watch and the hoops; the fabric is already loud enough.
Blue, on me. The rust on that column has seen stranger things.
