Navy sculpted-shoulder peplum top with slim trousers
A navy sleeveless top with sculpted shoulders, waist cut-outs and a peplum, over slim cropped navy trousers with a black stripe, in a painter's studio.
A sleeveless navy top in a dense wool crepe, cut with sharp padded shoulders that extend past the arm like the shoulders of a jacket, a wrap-over front that closes off-centre, cut-outs at each side of the waist and a stiff peplum that stands away from the hip. The trousers are the same navy, slim and cropped above the ankle, with a thin black stripe piped down the outside of each leg. Black strappy sandals with a slim heel.
It is a suit with the sleeves removed and the shoulders left in, which is how tailoring should behave in spring and autumn: the arms get the air, the shoulders keep the line. Office, then dinner, with nothing added. No jacket, because the top is the jacket; no bag, because the trousers have no room for one anyway.
Shoulders like these do not need a chair. I sat down anyway.
