Charcoal and silver colour-block blazer dress with boots

A blazer dress cut in two fabrics: charcoal flannel wool down the centre front and the outer sleeves, silver satin in vertical panels at the sides and the inner sleeves, so the body is narrowed by the colour as much as by the cut. Double-breasted with four covered buttons, a deep V to the second button, flap pockets, and shoulders padded and built up to a point. The hem stops well above the knee.

It is worn as a dress, with black opaque tights and black leather platform ankle boots on a chunky sole, which keeps it on the right side of office. Autumn and winter, for a late meeting, dinner afterwards or a night out in a room with a radiator. Nothing at the neck; the V and the hair do the work.

Half suit, half satin. All of it mine to argue about.
