An oversized plum crinkled taffeta jacket with ruched sleeves over a matching top and wrap mini skirt, in a sunlit artist's studio.

A three-piece in the same plum crinkled taffeta: an oversized jacket with notched lapels and sleeves gathered into deep ruches from shoulder to cuff, worn open; a short matching top underneath with a single button and a low V; and a wrap mini skirt with asymmetric panels that hang in points below the hem. The fabric is light and creased on purpose, so it catches sun in patches and never sits flat.

A daytime set that does not need help: no tights, a flat sandal or a low mule, hair down. Spring and summer, studios, long lunches, anywhere with white walls and good light. Take the jacket off and it's a two-piece; keep it on and the sleeves are the whole conversation.

I don't do colour. Apparently I do, in sets, when nobody warns me.
