Magenta taffeta draped gown with platform boots

Magenta silk taffeta with a shot finish, so every fold flips between pink and violet. The bodice is sleeveless and close, gathered into a narrow sash at the waist. From one shoulder a wide panel of taffeta drapes down the back like a loose hood, and the skirt is pleated into heavy volume that rises at the front and falls long behind in a high-low hem.

This is an evening gown taken out in daylight on purpose. A grey morning, a street of stalls, and black leather platform boots instead of a heel, so the hem clears the pavement and the dress stops asking permission. Autumn or a cool spring weekend; one dark piece on the feet is all it needs.

I was looking at a flask. Everyone else was looking at the taffeta. Fair.
