Burgundy puff-sleeve blazer and satin handkerchief skirt
A burgundy wool blazer with leg-of-mutton sleeves over a satin handkerchief skirt with leather panels, worn through a covered market at dusk.
A single-button blazer in burgundy wool, cut close through the waist with flap pockets and the kind of leg-of-mutton sleeve that needs its own doorway. The skirt underneath is burgundy satin, cut on an asymmetric handkerchief hem that drops to the calf at the sides and rises to the knee at the front, with two vertical panels of tonal leather stitched in where a seam would be.
Worn tonal, nothing to break the colour. It is an autumn look for the hour after the sun goes but before the air does: the wool holds the shoulder, the satin catches every lamp in the alley. A black ankle boot underneath, and that is the whole list. It travels well, which matters, because it was photographed a long way from home.
Colour on me is a rare event. I bought a rug to celebrate.

styling notes
- Keep the whole look in one colour family
- Sleeves this big want a soft skirt, never a second volume
- Flat or low boot; the shoulder is the height
