Oxblood plissé top with a leather corset and taffeta skirt

The top is oxblood plissé, fine knife pleats running on the diagonal, draped from a high collar on one side across the chest and gathered at the waist; a panel of black leather is set into the side like a half corset, seamed and shaped, with a small leather yoke at the opposite shoulder. The skirt is crinkled taffeta in bronze, cut in overlapping tiers that fold across the hips like wrapped paper and fall long.

It is a gallery-opening look: colour that reads under coloured light, textures that change when you move, no print. The shoes should be a thin black sandal; the hair down and straight; small hoops and nothing else. Autumn and winter, any night the invitation says eight and means nine.

I went to look at the sculpture. The sculpture was fine.
