The zip is the ornament. A strapless black leather corset, boned along the seams so the panels hold their shape rather than crease, a gentle sweetheart line at the top and a silver metal zip running the full length of the centre front, teeth out. It ends just at the waist of a pair of high-waist black trousers, flat-fronted and plain, so the two read as one black column with a single silver line down the middle.

It is a leather top for people who find lace too soft. Trousers high enough that nothing breaks the line at the waist; nothing over it indoors, a long coat over it outside with the zip the only thing catching light when the coat opens. Hair down, arms out, the sleeves of ink doing the rest. A night out, an opening, any season that has a car between the door and the destination.
