Burgundy ribbed knit wrap dress with charcoal panels

A sleeveless midi dress in fine ribbed knit, burgundy from the high round neck to the hem, with a wrap panel that crosses the waist and ties off as a long sash down one hip. The skirt is colour-blocked with wide panels of charcoal marl wool, cut on the diagonal so the hem falls uneven and the grey reads as a shadow rather than a stripe.

It is the easiest thing in the wardrobe to sit down in, which is why it ends up in cafes. Wear it with a flat ankle boot by day and a pointed heel after dark; a long black coat on top when the weather turns. Autumn and winter, long lunches, a table by the window and something to draw.

I do not draw well. The dress makes it look deliberate.
