Grey ribbed tank with satin wide-leg trousers and overskirt

A ribbed knit tank in a warm grey, sleeveless and fitted, over high-waisted black satin wide-leg trousers. Over the trousers, a satin overskirt in the same black, tied at the waist with a long sash and split high at the side so it moves separately from the leg underneath. The two layers catch the light at different angles, which is the whole point.

Worn with square-toe black mules on a slim heel and a small black box clutch with a metal frame. The knit keeps it from reading as full evening; the satin keeps it from reading as daytime. Cocktail hour in spring or summer, dinner in early autumn, anywhere with a marble floor and a long walk from the door to the table.

Grey is the most colour I will commit to before dark.
