A slightly oversized charcoal wool blazer with satin turn-back cuffs over an emerald satin wrap midi skirt gathered into a hammered gold buckle at the hip.

The blazer is charcoal wool flannel, single-breasted with one hidden button, cut a size up so it hangs straight from padded shoulders, and the sleeves are folded back to show a black satin lining. The skirt is emerald satin, wrapped and gathered at the left hip into a large hammered buckle in dull gold, the folds falling from there into a midi hem that cuts a little higher at the front. Black leather chelsea boots on a chunky lug sole finish it.

This is office tailoring that leaves the office. The blazer over the skirt reads as a meeting; the same skirt with a black tank after dark is a dinner. Autumn and spring, or any day the wind is up on a rooftop. The boots keep the satin from getting precious; a pointed heel would make it formal fast.

One buckle, and it is the only thing that needs to shine.
