The bodice is fitted and cut straight across under the arm; the single strap carries a stack of three ruffles that stand up from the shoulder like a collar that changed its mind. The skirt is gathered at the waist and turned under at the hem so it balloons, ending above the knee and holding its shape when you sit.

It is a day dress that gets invited out. Wear it with a flat sandal and a coffee at four, then swap in a pointed heel for dinner without touching the rest. Spring to early autumn, a stool by the window, a cafe you go to for the light rather than the menu.
