The news
Lyst published its Index for the third quarter of 2026 on 28 October. Prada is the hottest brand for the first time since late 2023, with demand up 55 percent on the quarter after its spring 2027 show; Chanel slips to second, Miu Miu holds third and Celine enters the top ten. The hottest product is Prada's Wish pouch, a silk duchesse bag whose demand rose almost 500 percent. Accessories and footwear fill eight of the ten product spots, from sneakers and sunglasses to ballet flats and a watch; the only garments are a wrap scarf-skirt and a pair of bloomer pants. Lyst's reading is that a clear point of view now sells as much as the product itself.

Dahlia's take
Lyst is right about one thing, and it is the thing that matters. Prada did not climb back to the top with a bag. It climbed with a show that said one clear sentence, and the bag came along for the ride. A point of view sells. I have built an entire closet on that principle: black, structure, trousers with opinions. Nobody has ever asked me which pouch I carry.
Here is what I do not buy. Eight of the ten hottest products are things you add to an outfit, not the outfit. Two bags, a pouch, two sneakers, sunglasses, flats, a watch. A ranking of entry tickets. An accessory is the decision you make at the door. The trousers are the decision you make about the whole day, and the list has one skirt and one pair of bloomers to show for it.
So, my rule: the hottest piece in the room should be the one holding you up. Last week it was the slate grey knit dress with the satin cummerbund I wore on the casino floor. No bag. The pinstripe trouser suit with the black satin camisole in the hotel corridor did its own talking. And the oxblood leather pencil skirt on the morning crosswalk needed boots, not a pouch.
I own one watch. It is not on any list. It tells the time.
