The quiet one of the week. A black racer-neck bodysuit with one cut-out at the side. Natural linen trousers that wrap at the front and run wide to the floor. Black top, pale trousers. For me, that counts as colour. Wear it by the pool, or anywhere with shade.

A black racer-neck bodysuit with one side cut-out, tucked into undyed linen trousers that wrap and tie at the waist.

The bodysuit is matte black stretch with a racer neck that clears the shoulders entirely and a single curved cut-out at the side of the waist. It goes into natural linen trousers, undyed and slightly slubbed, cut wide through the leg with a wrap front that folds across and ties at the hip instead of buttoning.

Two pieces, two colours, nothing printed. It works because the proportions are opposite: everything above the waist is close and minimal, everything below is loose and creased the way linen creases by noon. Worn at the edge of a pool in a walled courtyard, cactus against the adobe, the sun doing its worst. Summer and the warm end of spring; flat sandals, or barefoot on warm concrete.

It is forty degrees and this is, for once, not leather.
